There will be sculptural installations that visualize and expand on the concept of transformation through matter and time. Mouth-blown glass sculptures—resembling the form and flow of the digestive system—contain the vermouth, ferments, and preserved edible plants, fruits, and flowers. Alongside them, ceramic sculptures serve as vessels for decaying floral arrangements. These ephemeral installations highlight the beauty in deterioration and the cyclical nature of life. The juxtaposition of fresh and fading, of preservation and decomposition, invites the viewer to contemplate the aesthetics of impermanence and the continuous transformation of living materials. A screen installed in the space will showcase a short video documentary of a vermouth-making process, allowing the audience to engage with the project even during moments when no live actions are taking place.

Mark this item in your personal program
The necessity of transitioning to a circular economy is hard to neglect amidst the growing strain on our natural world and the depletion of vital resources. However, the path towards this circular future is proving slower and more complex than the urgency demands. While pioneering efforts have showcased circular potential, the crucial question remains: are we truly purging the linear model, or do we risk plateauing after initial successes? Scaling the circular transition requires a hard look at cost and incentive structures, while overall conditions still favor extraction. Following an impulse by Sandrine Dixson-Declève, Co-President of the Club of Rome, Niclas-Alexander Mauss will discuss with her and Jocelyn Blériot, Executive Lead - Policy & Institutions at the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, where we stand and where we need to get.

Mark this item in your personal program
From automation technology in intelligent manufacturing systems to sophisticated control and entertainment functions in vehicles, electronics underpin the future of manufacturing, mobility and modern life overall. While their reliance on a complex web of materials, often sourced globally, presents significant sustainability and supply chain challenges, circularity offers significant opportunities for value creation, longer lifespans, environmental benefits and ensuring access to precious materials. Whether in factories or vehicles: High-quality manufacturers have a double role to play, both by driving circularity in their own products and by supporting their customers and suppliers to do the same. The entry into circular business models often involves the use of secondary materials. There are numerous hurdles to overcome when approaching this topic. Suppliers are not used to dealing with secondary materials. The specifications are different. The quantities are limited. The processes are often less well-rehearsed than with virgin material. This leads to higher costs. With our panellists from the industry, we discuss how to overcome these initial difficulties when working with suppliers and how to build up supply chains step by step where ‘secondary first’ applies.

Bertelsmann Foundation, Circular Munich and rehab republic invite you to a special screening of Lithium Rising, the latest documentary by the Bertelsmann Foundation North America.
This compelling film takes you on a global journey, from the lithium flats of South America, to the cobalt mines in the Democratic Republic of the Congo; from nickel smelters in Indonesia, to battery gigafactories in Northern France, to recycling plants in rural Georgia, exploring the communities and industries driving the 21st-century global transition. The film sheds light on the economic, geopolitical, and social challenges surrounding the booming demand for lithium, cobalt, nickel, and other vital minerals.
Following the screening, we invite you to join a post-film discussion with filmmaker Samuel George to delve deeper into the themes explored in the documentary and their implications for our world.
